SILAS RIDGE SUNROOM

A light-filled retreat designed for all seasons — and for everyday joy.

This west-facing deck in the Silas Ridge neighborhood was full of potential — functional, well-situated, but rarely used outside the mild shoulder seasons. Our client loved the views of her garden beds and flowering landscape, but the deck’s exposure made it inhospitable during winter chills and summer heat. Her vision: a year-round sunroom, wrapped in light, with a fireplace as its welcoming heart and views in every direction.

To bring that vision to life, Sunni considered the architecture of the existing home carefully. A vaulted ceiling on the interior called for a thoughtful approach to the new roofline, and maintaining consistent floor levels ensured a seamless flow between the old and new. Space planning was also key: the client’s existing sectional needed to feel at home in the new footprint, which led us to expand the deck two feet westward — a small shift with a big impact on the room’s livability.

Brought to life by the talented James Woodel, the result is a space that feels original to the home — gracefully integrated, endlessly inviting, and now truly usable in every season. Flooded with natural light and framed by garden views on all three sides, it’s a place for morning coffee, evening fires, and everything in between.
